MONTELEONE 1890
Amaro "Monteleone 1890" was born from the reinterpretation, in a modern key, of an ancient Calabrian recipe created for curative purposes to deal with the serious Russian flu: a pandemic registered for the first time in the city of St. Petersburg in Russia but which, in those years , also seriously affected the town of Monteleone.
In fact, it is said that due to a lack of medicines in the pharmacies, the Monteleonesi had to reinvent themselves by creating the recipe for a amaro with medicinal herbs that had curative properties to mitigate feverish states.
MONTELEONE 1890 is an artisan amaro produced in small batches, through the natural maceration of its sixteen botanicals, to which particular attention is paid. In its complexity, it expresses bitter and citrus notes that taste of Calabria and which, in turn, make it unique and authentic.
PRODUCTION METHOD
Monteleone 1890 is prepared starting from a base of soft cereal alcohol, with an alcohol content of 96.5%Vol. , to which the various botanicals are added. After maceration, a mixture of sugar and water is filtered and added, the latter coming from a spring at an altitude of almost 2000 metres.
