VECCHIO AMARO DEL CAPO WITH SPICY PEPPER FROM CALABRIA, IN "LIMITED EDITION", A PERFECT SYNTHESIS BETWEEN TRADITION AND INNOVATION
The F.lli Caffo Distilleria is the protagonist of the 2019 edition of the Peperoncino di Diamante Festival (11-15 September 2019) the locality located along one of the most characteristic stretches of the Cosenza coast, the well-known Riviera dei Cedri, which for years has the most famous of the five international festivals dedicated to one of the food excellences that belongs to the culinary tradition of many countries in the world, deeply linked to the culture and traditions of the area. Diamante is all inspired by Calabria that has chilli pepper as a symbol of cultural identity.
To promote and organize the “Peperoncino Festival. Spicy holidays in the Riviera dei Cedri” is the Italian Chili Pepper Academy, the ONLUS cultural association which aims to promote and disseminate the culture of chilli pepper, founded in 1994 by the Calabrian journalist and gastronome Enzo Monaco. An objective achieved if one counts the eighty operating "delegations" in Italy and the twenty representations all over the world.
To celebrate its territory and pay homage to the event and to its creator as well as President of the Enzo Monaco Academy, the F.lli Caffo Distilleria has produced, just for this occasion, a spicy version of Vecchio Amaro del Capo, which will not fail to arouse , among others, the interest of numerous and passionate liqueur collectors from all over the world.
This limited edition - declares Nuccio Caffo, CEO of the company - expresses the company's ability to innovate while respecting tradition. Vecchio Amaro del Capo is our flagship product, with over 8 million bottles produced and distributed in over 50 countries, based on 29 herbs, flowers, fruits and roots from the land of Calabria, to which is added in this version the thirtieth ingredient The notes of some of its essences, such as: anise, mint, licorice, orange blossom and chamomile are combined with the slightly spicy note of the "spicy" pepper from Calabria. A formulation that reinforces the "mixology" vocation of Vecchio Amaro del Capo and which has already produced a novelty the "SPRITZ CALABRO", an original version of cocktail, whose recipe, simple and easy to make, was formulated by one of the most well-known and appreciated bartender, the fellow countryman Sandro Laugelli”.
Sandro Laugelli, historic collaborator of the F.lli Caffo Distilleries, is Master of Mixology, manages the LAB school in which the Calabrian barmen of the future are trained and is also the National Councilor of ABI Professional (Italian Barmen Association).

The first edition of the event dates back to 1992, the year in which the five hundredth anniversary of the discovery of America was celebrated. From the caravels of Christopher Columbus, among other foods, also landed the chilli pepper.
It was for this reason that Enzo Monaco thought of an event "1492-1992 Five hundred spicy years" to celebrate the millenary history of the chilli pepper which arrived in Europe as a "popular and democratic spice". Since then the event has become an annual festival and "the most important gastronomic event in Calabria".
The “philosophy” pursued from the beginning by Enzo Monaco decreed the success. Not only the spiciness that gives flavor to dishes but also the spiciness of art, photography, cinema, theater and satire.

“We are proud to participate in this event – adds Noè Alquati Sales Director of the company – which bears witness to the company's bond with our territory. We created Vecchio Amaro del Capo in the Red Hot version for this occasion, to make it more "Calabrian", as a tribute to our community and our culture.
Furthermore, as a symbol of appreciation for the activity lavished by President Enzo Monaco, the company has created a magnum bottle in the exclusive 3-litre format which I had the honor of personally delivering to him.
The product can be tasted free of charge and in absolute preview, at the Caffo stand located for the entire duration of the festival in front of the main stage of the event.”
